Getting to 1,001 blog subscribers won’t be that difficult if you follow this execution plan and spend the time to make your processes solid and tuned to your target prospects.

Let’s get started…

Why is Blogging Valuable for Your Business?

It’s important to note that your blog is NOT a business. Your blog is simply a traffic channel that funnels people to your offers. You must continue to do offline marketing, telemarketing (B2B telemarketing companies are a big help in this regard), direct mail, email marketing, etc.

Blogging is an effective channel for getting your subscribers to Know, Like and Trust You – making conversions and transactions easier. Many rookie marketers ask for the sale before educating and warming up the prospect… and this is a big mistake simply because most people who visit your online presence are not ready to buy.

In fact, they may not be ready to buy for weeks or months… so your job is to get them to know, like and trust you. Once you have completed this, you can ask for the transaction you desire them to make.

This transaction can be as simple as participating on your forum or completing a survey. In most cases, you are looking to convert a prospect into a customer… this means asking them to hand over money.

You must nurture your visitors using a process that moves them from one step to the next automatically.

Using this formula, your blog will work as a “funnel” that carefully moves prospects through the four phases of becoming a customer, which are:

  1. The prospect will learn who you are, your credibility, and what you can do for them.
  2. Be yourself. If you are a major corporation, showcase your employees and show fun things you are doing at your office or in the community.
  3. TRUST. The blog will deliver exactly what you promise and OVER-DELIVER so that you can gain their trust. You will build trust by delivering solid content on your blog that solves a specific problem your target prospect has.
  4. The prospect knows, likes, and trusts you enough to complete a transaction.

Again, I must reiterate that blogging is not a business – blogging is an ADDITIONAL channel to your existing marketing channels. A blog can also act as a great way to enhance your search engine presence, or in other words, be helpful for some aspects of SEO (search engine optimization). So what is search engine optimization? It is the process of improving your website as well as content, that can in turn boost your presence on the Internet via search engines like Google. This is an important part of having a business website, which is why it helps to have an informative blog for your business. But of course, you must have multiple hooks in the water so to speak to catch more fish.

Let’s take a look at this funnel in action and cover each section from a high level, and then we will get into building the actual pieces step-by-step…

Getting Subscribers to Know, Like, and Trust You

Getting the subscriber to know, like, and trust you is fundamental if you want to convert them to a paying customer. In reality, it takes a LOT to build trust for a prospect give you just one dollar.

I want you to step back from the ‘instant sale’ approach for a moment… this system does not work that way. In most cases, your visitors have no idea who you are and have stumbled across your blog.

It is out duty to educate, entertain, and develop a relationship. You’ve heard the old saying “friends do business with friends”? It’s true.

You could implement a number of marketing techniques to grow your website’s subscriber base. In comparison to other methods of marketing, email marketing seems to be the one that has the least competition, and it allows you to reach out to a very large number of people and convert them into your customers.

The problem is that website owners with no knowledge of email marketing typically have a hard time building a mailing list and relevant audience email lists. Likewise, if this is the case with you, it is advised that you work with email marketing experts (check it out here, if interested) to execute a successful marketing campaign.

Further, referrals from friends are often powerful as well. By developing our blog into ‘trust machine’ of sorts… we are building friendships and relationships… THIS IS NOT DONE OVERNIGHT.

In order to build this relationship, we must get your new subscribers to know, like, and trust you. This is done through the following steps which lead to a conversion:

The Know, Like, Trust Formula

  1. Lead Magnet
  2. Required Tools
  3. Squeeze Page
  4. Thank You Page
  5. Traffic Source

It’s very simplistic, yet can be time consuming to setup properly.

Don’t get overwhelmed, I’ll show you some free plugins you can install into your Superb Internet WordPress site or website to make things easy.

And one thing I should cover quickly… the lead magnet creation and setup process takes time… just be patient with the process.

NOTE: Don’t expect immediate conversions from your funnel (although you will get some). Building trust and credibility can take time. As a general rule, the higher priced the product is, the longer the sales process will be. I’ll cover more about the nurturing process later in this article.

In my next article, I’ll dig into the Execution Plan and how you can start building your own Blog Funnel… follow along throughout this 4 part series and get your hands dirty. By the end of this series, you will have a new marketing channel designed to get customers to know, like, and trust you.

And don’t be shy, if you have questions… make sure to post them in the comments section below.
