Earlier this week I made a post linking to an article released on AnandTech last year that compared the Intel Woodcrest CPU to AMD’s Opteron and Sun’s Ultrasparc T1. The overall conclusion was that the Woodcrest was the top processor of the three. While the Intel Woodcrest will suffice for a majority of business and personal needs, there is always something faster; leading the Industry, Intel released the Quad Core Clovertown CPU. Both processors are ranked highly when compared with available processors. While the biggest question may be whether or not you need to move to a server that features a Woodcrest or Clovertown processor, for more information about the performance of the Clovertown, see this article on AnandTech.
